A future more peoplecan help shape.

A view of technology that starts with people.

Our mission

We believe technological progress is meaningful when more people can take part in it.

We want the curiosity, experience and ideas of people who are not technology specialists to help shape how technology develops.

Our mission is to make technological knowledge easier to understand and give more people a starting point for their own ideas. We want more people to have room to imagine, make decisions and build something of their own. This is what guides Tormont.

Curiosity that goes further

Tormont grew out of a restless imagination and a habit of asking what more we could do with the tools around us.

That curiosity has always had two sides: learning to use technology more effectively and finding ways it can help others. New ways of working, ideas worth developing and everyday problems to solve all bring creativity and technology together.

Tormont grew from the desire to take that curiosity beyond personal use and share the knowledge that helps others get started. At its heart is a question that goes beyond the tool itself: what could it make possible for someone else?

Human judgment still matters

Tools change. Why we use them is still for us to decide.

To us, access means more than having a tool. It means being able to understand it, ask questions and decide whether it belongs in your life. You should not need specialist language or technical expertise to feel you can take part.

We want technology to reflect people’s experience, respect their choices and fit different ways of living. Understanding it should strengthen our independence, not become a test of anyone’s worth.

A future shaped together

We want this idea to grow beyond one person’s initiative. Other people’s questions, experiences and ways of seeing the world should also influence what we build.

We want knowledge to be shared widely, so ideas that have not yet taken shape have a chance to grow.

We do not see this movement as a place where everyone has to think alike. We want it to grow through different perspectives, including questions we have not thought to ask yet. That openness is part of the future we want for Tormont.

This is the movement we want to build: technology that gives people more freedom to decide how they live.

The future needs more voices.

You do not have to work in technology to have an idea worth exploring. The experience of people who practice a craft, learn something new or care for others can reveal what still needs to be built.

Tormont wants those perspectives to help shape what comes next. People should be more than the recipients of new tools; their experience should help guide what we imagine and build.

The movement we want to build begins here: technological knowledge and lived experience can guide and strengthen one another.
